to Pretoria

This route stretches from the thunderous Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe to the historic city of Pretoria in South Africa, traversing vast savannas, legendary national parks, and picturesque plains. Beyond the panoramic windows, a shifting tapestry of rivers, granite hills, and endless horizons unfolds. Crossing the Limpopo River and the Tropic of Capricorn marks a symbolic passage between different worlds and latitudes. Day 1 — Victoria Falls

  • Departure from Victoria Falls Station, Zimbabwe

Your journey begins at Victoria Falls Station, in the heart of Zimbabwe, where from the very first moments you can feel the power and beauty of African nature.

Day 2 — Hwange National Park

  • Arrival at the park and a safari in Hwange National Park
  • The train follows the Gwaai–Dete route on its way to Bulawayo

The train enters the Hwange National Park, where a safari awaits amidst the savannas and waterholes. The journey then continues along the Gwaai–Dete line, heading toward Bulawayo.

Day 3 — Matobo National Park

  • Transfer from the train and a visit to Matobo National Park
  • The route traverses the land of the baobabs
  • The train descends toward Ganda
  • The train heads to Beitbridge for the border crossing into Zimbabwe

After disembarking from the train, you set out on a tour of Matobo National Park, renowned for its granite hills and scenic landscapes. Once the park tour is complete, the journey continues, with the train heading to Gwanda and then to Beitbridge for crossing into South Africa.

Day 4 — Leisure time on board

  • Crossing the Limpopo River
  • Border crossing into South Africa
  • Passing the Tropic of Capricorn

The entire day is spent on board, offering a leisurely opportunity to take in the ever-changing African landscapes. Before reaching the South African border, the train crosses the Limpopo River, passes the border post, and crosses the Tropic of Capricorn, continuing its journey southward.

Day 5 — Pretoria

  • Arrival at Pretoria Station, South Africa

The train arrives at Pretoria Station, bringing to a close a voyage that revealed the sheer grandeur of Zimbabwe and South Africa. This day concludes your journey, leaving you with unforgettable moments and a profound sense of unity with the grandeur and beauty of the African landscapes.
